Great article about a Senate parliamentarian!

Check out this great article about Bob Dove who served as a Senate parliamentarian for 35 years. The article's title is: Ex-Parliamentarian Advises: Cool It and can be found at http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1009/28019.html

I believe that sometimes the best advice a parliamentarian can offer is a motion that can help the members in a meeting "cool it". The motions to recess or to adjourn are sometimes the best strategic moves a member in a meeting can make. When the heat of the moment has take over the better thinking of some members, a break for 10 to 15 minutes or until the next meeting can work wonders.

Have you been elected as secretary?

I have served in many different positions in many organizations and I have come to the conclusion that being the secretary is one of the most difficult. Trying to take minutes and being an active meeting participant at the same time is challenging. If you are a secretary for an ongraniztion, you might want to check out a new online training course Minutes Made Easy at http://www.parliamentarians.org/
